The Workshops
What You’ll Learn in Each Workshop
Each workshop is two hours long, highly practical, and packed with science-based, creative, tried-and-tested techniques. You’ll not only learn what to do but also how and when to use each practice with children and teenagers. Through experiential learning, you’ll step into the shoes of a child or teen, try the practices for yourself, and leave with the confidence - and specific guidance formulas - to guide them in real-life situations.
1. The Calm Kids Toolkit: Self-Regulation Skills for Children & Teens
In this workshop, you’ll dive into the foundations of self-regulation: how children and teenagers manage their emotions, behaviour and energy. You’ll learn:
- Specific, practical self-regulation tools to support children and teens through stress, overwhelm, frustration, and fatigue.
- How to use these techniques in daily life — at home, in classrooms, or during transitions — to prevent meltdowns and build resilience.
- How to guide practices effectively, in a way that feels natural, engaging and age-appropriate.
- Common challenges (like resistance, boredom, or difficulty focusing) and how to overcome them.
2. Recharge & Restore: Calming Yoga Practices for Teenagers
Teenagers often carry tension in their bodies as well as their minds — from long hours at desks and screens, changing hormones, stress, and fatigue. In this workshop, we focus fully on restorative yoga practices designed specifically for 11–18 year olds — practices that give them a safe space to slow down, release tension, and feel restored.
You’ll learn:
- Restorative postures and sequences tailored to common challenges teens face, such as tension headaches, back pain, poor sleep, and stress overload.
- How to adapt and offer variations — because every teen’s body is different, and one size never fits all.
- The most effective ways to use props (and how to improvise with what’s available) so practices are accessible and comfortable for every student.
- A step-by-step formula for confidently guiding teens into restorative poses, supporting them during the practice with relaxation and mindfulness cues, and safely bringing them out.
- How to keep practices relevant and engaging so teens actually connect with them, rather than feeling bored or resistant.
And the bonus? These skills don’t just apply to teens. This workshop gives you a powerful formula you can use in family yoga sessions, adult classes, or one-to-one settings — even if you’ve never taught teenagers before.
This session is packed with some of the most practical, experience-based knowledge I’ve ever shared. You’ll leave with a toolkit of restorative practices that truly work, plus the confidence to guide them in ways that feel effective, meaningful, and deeply calming.
3. Breath as Your Superpower: Practical Breathing Techniques for Children & Teens
Breathwork is one of the most powerful — and overlooked — tools for children and teens. In this workshop, you’ll explore how breathing directly supports the nervous system, the brain, and self-regulation. You’ll learn:
- A wide range of child-friendly and teen-relevant breathing techniques for calming, energising, and focusing.
- How to guide breathing practices in a playful way for younger children, and a meaningful, relevant way for teenagers.
- Exactly when and why to use each technique — whether it’s to calm exam nerves, release frustration, ease headaches, or restore focus after screen time.
- How to encourage independence, so children and teens can use these practices on-the-spot when they need them most.
"Laura is passionate about kids yoga and this is infectious. I have learnt so much, without even being aware of it. I am very grateful to have found Divine Light online."
- Alison, Parent
"Laura
is simply...changing the world, one child at a time!
You can expect a
full toolbox on how to teach hands on teaching daily, and feeling fully
empowered to go out there and do it."
